Demonstrational application of heat pumps for heating public buildings in Zagreb county
In recent years there has been a growing interest in reneweble energy sources, particularly for the use of heat pumps. Therefore, in year 2009 a demonstrational application of heat pumps for heating of public buildings in Zagreb County was launched. The first phase of the project includes six public buildings in the county. The project was implemented by the North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency. The project was co-financed by the Environmental protection and energy efficiency Fund. The selection of public buildings was based on the technical characteristics and on the basis of promotional and educational impacts of the project.
Project goals:
- Increased use of renewable energy sources with a significant reduction of CO2 emissions;
- Raising public awareness in Zagreb County regarding use of renewable energy sources and ways to protect the environment.
Activities within the project:
- Coordination between the county and the project manager;
- Development of project proposals for co-financing by the Environmental protection and energy efficiency Fund;
- Participation in the selection of contractor;
- A number of promotional and informational activities, continuous informing of the general public about the project and its results, as well as the importance of using renewable energy for environmental protection and economic development of the Zagreb County;
- Production of special educational poster for all the buildings with installed heat pumps.
