GTZ – Capital cities initiative
Capital cities initiative is a project developed by German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ - Open Regional Fund for South East Europe - Energy) with the primary goal of financing the development of sustainable energy action plans - SEAP for regional capital cities which have joined the Covenant of mayors initiative: Zagreb, Sarajevo, Skopje and Podgorica. All four cities have commited to develop action plans which would go beyond the climate and energy goals of the European Union, also known as the 20-20-20. Initial project meetings were held in Sarajevo on June 11th and in Skopje on July 1st 2010 regarding dynamics and methodology of sustainable energy action plan development. The meetings were attended by mayors of the forementioned cities, representatives of Open Regional Fund for South East Europe, North-west Croatia Regional Energy Agency, as well as local energetics consultants.
Project goals:
- Development of sustainable energy action plans for Sarajevo, Skopje and Podgorica;
- Sharing of knowledge and experiences between regions in the field of energy efficiency in public sector.
Activities within the project:
- REGEA has been chosen as a developer of sustainable energy action plans for Sarajevo, Skopje and Podgorica.
